Frequently asked questions

How do I know a scaffold is safe?

Look for the scaffolder’s certification. A scaffolder’s Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) card will tell you how well qualified they are.

Advanced Scaffolder and ‘NVQ2’ (which will be written on the back of the card) is also an acceptable level of qualification for the person leading your work.

Can my builder do my roof?

Most builders will bring in a roofing expert, and you’ll pay their costs and your builder's project management costs on top. So going direct to a roofing specialist is likely to be more cost-effective, and possibly quicker. If you’re thinking of using your builder to work on your roof, we’re happy to provide a quote so you can make an informed choice.

How do I maintain my roof?

Our annual roof check service provides a good guide. We inspect the roof for broken slipped slates, cracked tiles or loose flashings. We look for deterioration of ridges and mortar, and check that fascia’s and soffits are still in good condition. We also clear downpipes, gullies and gutters - something you should do at least twice a year.

If you’d prefer to leave it to us, our roof check service costs £250 +VAT.
